Waiting on Wednesday (4/20)

Hey!

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
*Thanks Bewitched Bookworms for the lovely button!;)
So here's what I'm waiting on this week:

-July 26th 2011 by Kensington Publishing Corporation-

Blurb: (Goodreads)
My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy — a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody’s head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest.
But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other bad, bad things. Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I’m determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why – especially since I should have been the one who died...

I haven't read anything by this author yet, but I'm planning to do it soon. Anyway, this books sounds amazing - I love books with schools for special kids and magic!<3
Here's an excerpt of the book.

And this is the old version of the cover. Somehow I liked it better - then again, I'm not a big fan of covers with models' faces on them. But just as Jennifer said, I guess the new cover suits better the genre and the feeling of the book. Gwen seems pretty fierce!:)

What are you waiting on this week?:)

P.S. Remember my last week's WoW post? I gave in and started reading the E-ARC of Starcrossed and I LOVE it!<3

xoxo

Waiting On Wednesday (3/23)

Hiya!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that highlights an upcoming book release that we are eagerly anticipating.
*Thanks Danny @ Bewitched Bookworms for the button.:)

This should come as no surprise to anyone that Kim Harrison is my favorite Urban Fantasy author. And I'm really excited, because she's been busy - she has 4 new releases this year!*squee* Pale Demon, the 9th book in the Hollows series came out last month (and read and reviewed my yours truly here), and coming up next for us are a graphic novel (late summer) and a book about The Hollows world and characters - The Hollows Insider (late fall). But what I'm really looking forward to is the 3rd book in her Madison Avery series. Sadly, this is the final book in her Young Adult series, and I can't wait to see how things are going to be for Madison. I really hope she gets her HEA!

Something Deadly This Way Comes (Madison Avery #3)
Pub.: 5/24/2011 by HarperCollins Publishers

I'm Madison Avery, in charge of heaven's hit squad . . . and fighting it all the way.
When Madison died the night of her prom, she knew her life would never be the same. Now she has a powerful amulet, a team of rogue angels by her side, and the ability to flash forward into the future to see the shape of destiny. And of course, now she's finally with Josh—a perfect boyfriend who doesn't even mind that she's dead.
But being dead has its disadvantages, too. Madison feels caught between the light and the dark, and between her real life and her timekeeper status. When Madison has the opportunity to get her body back—to be alive again—she faces her most difficult decision yet. If she claims it, she could return to being a normal girl—and have a chance at a real relationship with Josh. But would having the one thing she wants most in the world also mean giving up everything she's worked so hard for?
*Info from Kim's page at HarperCollins Publisher, since the Goodreads page is not updated

Previous books in the series:
Once Dead, Twice Shy (Madison Avery, #1)
Early to Death, Early to Rise (Madison Avery, #2)

So this is the last book in the Madison Avery series. After the graphic novel and the Hollows insider, there are going to be 2 or 3 more The Hollows books and... that's it or Kim Harrison for now. *tear* I know she is ready to move on, and she's eager to write something completely different, but I'm not. LOL *sigh*

What are you waiting on this week?;)

Have you read this series?

See ya!

Waiting on Wednesday (Mar. 16)

Hey!

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
*Thanks Bewitched Bookworms for the lovely button!
 And my picks this week:

Bite Club (The Morganville Vampires #10) by Rachel Caine
Pub.: May 3rd 2011 by NAL Hardcover

After discovering that vampires populate her town, college student Claire Danvers knows that the undead just want to live their lives. But someone else wants them to get ready to rumble.
There's a new extreme sport getting picked up on the Internet: bare- knuckle fights pitting captured vampires against each other-or humans. Tracking the remote signal leads Claire- accompanied by her friends and frenemies-to discover that what started as an online brawl will soon threaten everyone in Morganville... (Goodreads)

I think I've mentioned this before: when it comes to long, great series, I prefer to wait for more books of the series to come out and to read them one after another. I'm not a big fan of cliffhangers and it also makes it easier for me to keep up with the story and connect with the characters. And now I can't wait for the release of Bite Club, because I'm dying to see what happens next and I need to catch up with this series already! I still have to read the previous three books - so four Morganville Vampires books for me in May, woo hoo!:))

Oh, and I've also spotted the cover for the 11th The Morganville Vampires book, Last Breath, which will come out  in November. November!!! *dies* This cover is a little different (wow, it's so bright!LOL), but I still prefer the UK ones. And I'll show you our Romanian covers later this week. ;) So what do you think?

What book(s) are you eagerly anticipating this week?

*C.C. Hunter, author of Born at Midnight (book I featured a few weeks ago), released a short story, Turned at Dark, along with the first three chapters of Born at Midnight. So if you are as excited as I am for the book, check THIS out!

*Don't forget to check back here tomorrow, I'll have my first giveaway and you can win one of the books I mentioned today (among others, of course)! So stay tunned!;)

Till then...

Waiting on Wednesday (Mar. 2)

Heya!
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I feel like I've been neglecting the 2011 Debut Author Challenge lately and I'm sorry about that. So here are some pretty amazing debut novels that I'm eagerly anticipating:

Hereafter (Hereafter #1) by Tara Hudson - June 7th 2011 (HarperCollins)

Can there truly be love after death?

Drifting in the dark waters of a mysterious river, the only thing Amelia knows for sure is that she's dead. With no recollection of her past life—or her actual death—she's trapped alone in a nightmarish existence. All of this changes when she tries to rescue a boy, Joshua, from drowning in her river. As a ghost, she can do nothing but will him to live. Yet in an unforgettable moment of connection, she helps him survive.

Amelia and Joshua grow ever closer as they begin to uncover the strange circumstances of her death and the secrets of the dark river that held her captive for so long. But even while they struggle to keep their bond hidden from the living world, a frightening spirit named Eli is doing everything in his power to destroy their newfound happiness and drag Amelia back into the ghost world . . . forever.

Thrilling and evocative, with moments of pure pleasure, Hereafter is a sensation you won't want to miss.

(Goodreads)

Yup, I really don't want to miss this one. I love ghost stories and this one sounds fantastic, I'm really curious where a relationship between a ghost girl and a boy could get.:D Oh, and I LOVE the cover!<3
BTW, author Tara Hudson is giving away 3 ARC of her awesome debut novel. Visit her blog to get the dets and enter the contest, it's pretty easy!:)

And another debut novel I'm really, really excited about is The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter. <3

The Goddess Test (Goddess Test #1) by Aimee Carter - April 19th 2011 (Harlequin Teen)

Every girl who has taken the test has died.

Now it's Kate's turn.

It's always been just Kate and her mom--and now her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.

Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld--and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.

Kate is sure he's crazy--until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess.

If she fails...

(Goodreads)

How about a modern turn of some Greek mythology? And I really want to meet this Henry. :D I've also read some very good ARC's reviews and this book sounds very good and refreshing!

Waiting On Wednesday (Feb. 23)

Hey!
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments #4) by Cassandra Clare : April 5th 2011
City of Fallen Angels is the fourth book in the bestselling series The Mortal Instruments.
“City of Fallen Angels takes place two months after the events of City of Glass. In it, a mysterious someone’s killing the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine’s Circle and displaying their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to provoke hostility between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, leaving tensions running high in the city and disrupting Clary’s plan to lead as normal a life as she can — training to be a Shadowhunter, and pursuing her relationship with Jace. As Jace and Clary delve into the issue of the murdered Shadowhunters, they discover a mystery that has deeply personal consequences for them — consequences that may strengthen their relationship, or rip it apart forever. Meanwhile, internecine warfare among vampires is tearing the Downworld community apart, and only Simon — the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side — can decide the outcome; too bad he wants nothing to do with Downworld politics. Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.” (Goodreads)
*Now that the first chapter is available and I finally got a taste of this book (if you missed the chapter hunt last week, here it is, with a few pages extra), I'm even more excited about City of Fallen Angels. This is one of my favorite YA series: Cassie has a very beautiful and entertaining writing style, her characters are fun to read and her world is very unique and interesting. I can't wait to read more about Jace! *swoon*
**This book is also part of my A-Z Reading Challenge.

UPDATE: I've already read the first three books in the series and totally LOVED them, but here, in Romania, the first book is just coming out next month. Finally! Here's our cover (and a pre-order link)

***

Wither (Chemical Garden #1) by Lauren DeStefano: March 22nd 2011
What if you knew exactly when you would die?
Thanks to modern science, every human being has become a ticking genetic time bomb—males only live to age twenty-five, and females only live to age twenty. In this bleak landscape, young girls are kidnapped and forced into polygamous marriages to keep the population from dying out.
When sixteen-year-old Rhine Ellery is taken by the Gatherers to become a bride, she enters a world of wealth and privilege. Despite her husband Linden's genuine love for her, and a tenuous trust among her sister wives, Rhine has one purpose: to escape—to find her twin brother and go home.
But Rhine has more to contend with than losing her freedom. Linden's eccentric father is bent on finding an antidote to the genetic virus that is getting closer to taking his son, even if it means collecting corpses in order to test his experiments. With the help of Gabriel, a servant Rhine is growing dangerously attracted to, Rhine attempts to break free, in the limted time she has left. (Goodreads)
*I don't know much about Wither, but it does sound like a nice, refreshing book. Anyway, I'd buy it for the cover alone! Isn't it pretty?:D
**This book is part of both the A-Z Reading Challenge and the Debut Author Challege 2011. I can't wait to read it! (actually, my fingers are itching to pre-order it right now, but my card is making weird noises and pointing angrily at my huge TBR list LOL. Oh well...)

Now tell me what are you waiting on today!;)
See ya!

Waiting on Wednesday (Feb. 16)

Hey!
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Because I mentioned yesterday that I started reading Sabina Kane series and that the 3rd installment's coming out soon, I thought it would be nice to mention it in this week's WoW. I really like the series so far and I can't wait for the 3rd book to come out!
Here's the scoop: (Goodreads)

 Release Date: MARCH 1st 2011

The clock is ticking for Sabina Kane. She has to save her sister from her mysterious captors. And in order to do that, she has to broker a deal between the mages and the vampires before all hell breaks loose.

But as much as Sabina is focused on surviving the present, the past won’t be ignored. Before she can save those she cares about, she’s got to save herself from the ghosts of her past. Because the past is haunting her. Literally.

I'm at book one, but I have a feeling the series is getting better and better. :D
**FYI If you are already up to date with the series, Jaye has a fabulous contest on her blog. Check it out here! (Unfortunately for me, it's US only:( )

And another book I'm eagerly anticipating is a YA debut novel: Born at Midnight. I love the cover and sounds like e great read!
Here's the scoop: (Goodreads again)

 Release Date: MARCH 29th 2011

"Don’t miss this spectacular new series that will steal your heart and haunt your dreams, Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen…"

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

Vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies together? Wow, bring it on!:D

**FYI If you are from the US, you can win a copy of Born at Midnight here. I'll just wait patiently to get mine from The Book Depository. *sigh*

What book(s) are you eagerly anticipating?:D Are you planning to read these ones as well?
xoxo
