Teaser Tuesday (3/8)

Hello everyone!

Happy International Womens Day!:)

I probably won't be so much around these days, I have to work on my thesis and study for some exams. (I won't have that much time to read anything not college related anyway.) But hey, I still need breaks and to read something fun and different from time to time, so I won't disappear completely. ;)
Now, on to business:

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  •  Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
The Goddess Test (Goddess Test #1) by Aimee Carter

"You will do well", he said. I can feel it. And afterward, you will help me do something that no one else is capable of doing. You will have power beyond imagining, and you will never fear death again. You will never grow old and you will always be beautiful. You will have eternal life to spend as you wish. "
A shiver ran through me, and I didn't know if it was because of the way he spoke, what he said, or the way he looked at me.

The teaser is from the ARC version I've read (the book is coming out in 5 weeks or so), but it's from the first promo page, so I hope it's safe enough.:D Besides, I loved it and I wanted to share a bit with you. ;) It's a very unique, refreshing an beautiful story and I really recommend it. (I'll post my review and tell you more about it later today or tomorrow.)

So... what are you reading?:)
See ya!

Teaser Tuesday (Mar. 1)

Hello everyone!

I'm a little moody today, I've spent over a week studying for some hellacious exams and they got canceled (or hopefully just postponed) at the last minute. Ugh. So I'm behind with my blog, books, reviews and everything fun. :)
Now I don't even know what to read, my TBR pile is huge. (btw, I've got some new books in the mail last week :D ).
Anyways...

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
So how about a little teaser from This Side of the Grave? :D

This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress #5) by Jeaniene Frost

“Well, it is,” I replied, straightening. “Just because you don’t like him doesn’t mean he’s not our best bet, and while he might refuse to do it if it was just you going, odds are he’ll say yes because I’ll be there.”
Bones’s mouth twisted in a way that told me that wasn’t the best argument I could’ve used. “Because we’re friends,” I quickly added. “Vlad’s big on being there for his friends.”
“I don’t question Tepesh’s taste in regarding you as a friend. Just yours for feeling the same way about him,” Bones muttered.
(p.119)

And if my Romanian fellows were wondering, yes, that would be our Vlad Țepeș. :))) Except Jeaniene Frost's Vlad is more... *clears throat*... appealing and fun. To read, that is. ;)

This Side of the Grave is the 5th book in the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost and came out on February 22. Is it really necessary to say that this is a must read series?:D

Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1)
One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2)
At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3)
Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress, #4)
The Book Depository

What are you reading today?

Have a wonderful spring everyone!

I'm currently reading an E-ARC, and because I think it's better not to post teaser sentences from ARCs, today's teaser is from the book I want to read next : Storm Born (Dark Swan #1) by Richelle Mead.

My moment of emotion cost me. In those seconds I'd spent staring at her, I'd lost the last man. I felt a blade at my throat and realized I'd let him sneak up behind me."If you want to live", he said, "drop your weapons and call off your servants". (Storm Born by Richelle Mead, p. 117)

Ok, there is a lot of action and fighting in this book. I'm really curious how that one is going to end. :D

Next books in the series:
Thorn Queen (Dark Swan #2) - July 28th 2009
Iron Crowned (Dark Swan #3) - February 22nd 2011 - as in today, yay!

Sorry I'm a bit late with today's post!
So... what are you currently reading?

Teaser Tuesday (Feb. 15)

Hello again!;)
I know there are some pretty awesome debut novels that came out lately, but I also want to catch up with some books from my TBR pile (it's huge!). So today I've decided to start the Sabina Kane series by Jaye Wells. The 3rd book is coming out soon, which is even better. And this leads me to today's teaser. :D

A reminder about this feature:

So, here are my teaser sentences from the first Sabina Kane book, Red-Headed Stepchild. (I actually opened my book carefully at random, because I just started reading it and I don't want to stumble upon something I shouldn't know yet).
"He started walking again, through another door and back out into the courtyard. As we walked, he seemed to be pondering my question, as if he hadn't given it thought before. Riiight
Even though I didn't trust him anymore than I would a snake, as we walked my body felt drawn to his. I literally had to force myself to keep a respectable distance between us. " (Red-Headed Stepchild, Sabina Kane #1, p. 100/328)
Ok, now I'm really curious who is she talking about. I have a bad feeling about him. :))

Red-Headed Stepchild (Sabina Kane, #1) - April 1st 2009
The Mage in Black (Sabina Kane #2) - April 1st 2010
Green Eyed Demon (Sabina Kane #3) - March 1st, 2011

Have you read this series yet? What do you think about it?
And what's your teaser for today?:)

See you soon!

Teaser Tuesdays #2

Hey guys!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.

I just finished reading Pale Demon by Kim Harrison (my most anticipated book of the year) and I'm a little shaken.:)) But I'm going to read Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton next, which also seems a very promising book. It's part o my 2011 challenges and I've read good things about it around the blogosphere so I can't wait to read it! Angelfire will be released on February 15th, so you still have 2 weeks to pre-order it. ;) Here are my teasers:
"Enough of this", he growled, leaning closer to me. "You need to accept what happened last night and what you are, no matter how much you don't want to. Pretending that it was just a dream or that I'm insane isn't going to help you. It'll only make things worse." (39/291*)
"What are you doing?" I asked, my eyes wide. His fingers traced the curve of my shoulder softly, as his gaze fell. I gasped sharply. If he tried to kiss me, I'd slap the crap out of him. Bond or no bond. He slipped my purse off my shoulder and tossed it."You won't need this." He turned and stepped away." (70/291*)
I picked them at random, I don't want to spoil the fun. :D

Teaser Tuesday - Skinwalker (Faith Hunter)

Hey!

- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.

I'm currently reading Skinwalker (Jane Yellowrock #1) by Faith Hunter and I really like it. It's my kind of book!:)) Faith's writing style reminds me a bit of Kim Harrison's style, which is even better. And here's what I'm sharing:

When I could speak without a challenge, which could stimulate a vamp on edge, I said, 'Are you out of your freaking mind?' Okay. Not challenge-less, but better than what I wanted to say. (p. 29 / eBook version)
 *****
For a single moment we faced each other. Me wearing heels. No weapons. Crap.(p. 78)

Yup. :) Funny, dark, edgy, teasing... Love it!:D

What do you think about this series?

Go to MizB's blog and share your teaser sentences! ;)
