Cover Reveal: The Summer I Became a Nerd by Leah Rae Miller @EntangledTeen

Hi guys!

I'm interrupting today's festivities to show you a cute, summery cover for a book that sounds awesome and fun and that I can't wait to read!

The Summer I Became a Nerd by Leah Rae Miller comes out just in time for summer next year, from Entangled Publishing.

Here's the scoop:

The Summer I Became a Nerd
by Leah Rae Miller

Release date: May 7th 2013
by Entangled Teen

Goodreads:

On the outside, seventeen-year-old Madelyne Summers looks like your typical blond cheerleader—perky, popular, and dating the star quarterback. But inside, Maddie spends more time agonizing over what will happen in the next issue of her favorite comic book than planning pep rallies with her squad. That she’s a nerd hiding in a popular girl's body isn’t just unknown, it's anti-known. And she needs to keep it that way.

Summer is the only time Maddie lets her real self out to play, but when she slips up and the adorkable guy behind the local comic shop’s counter uncovers her secret, she’s busted. Before she can shake a pom-pom, Maddie’s whisked into Logan’s world of comic conventions, live-action role-playing, and first-person-shooter video games. And she loves it. But the more she denies who she really is, the deeper her lies become…and the more she risks losing Logan forever.

About the author:

Born and raised in northern Louisiana, Leah Rae Miller still lives there on a windy hill with her husband and kids. She loves comic books, lava lamps, fuzzy socks, and Cherry Coke. She spends most of her days reading things she likes and writing things she hopes other people will like.

Pre-order the book: Amazon / B & N

For everyone in Romania, I hope you have a wonderful time this sunny holiday weekend! (La multi ani celor cu nume de Andrei, Andreea si alte derivate!) For everyone else, have a great weekend!

Waiting on Wednesday #39 - The Ward by Jordana Frankel

Hi!

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week...

The Ward
by Jordana Frankel

Release date: April 30th 2013
by Katherine Tegen Books
Format: Hardcover, 384 pages

Goodreads:

Sixteen-year-old Ren is a daredevil mobile racer who will risk everything to survive in the Ward, what remains of a water-logged Manhattan. To save her sister, who is suffering from a deadly illness thought to be caused by years of pollution, Ren accepts a secret mission from the government: to search for a freshwater source in the Ward, with the hope of it leading to a cure.

However, she never expects that her search will lead to dangerous encounters with a passionate young scientist; a web of deceit and lies; and an earth-shattering mystery that’s lurking deep beneath the water’s rippling surface.

Jordana Frankel’s ambitious debut novel and the first in a two-book series, The Ward is arresting, cinematic, and thrilling—perfect for fans of Scott Westerfeld or Ann Aguirre.

I miss reading a great Dystopian book, I feel like I've neglected this genre in the past few months. But I spotted a few upcoming books that sound really awesome and I'm looking forward to their release.
The Ward by Jordana Frankel is one of them; it sounds kickass and original and I love action-packed books with strong heroines. The cover is gorgeous as well, so I can't wait to add it to my reading pile!

Waiting on Wednesday #38 - The Archived by Victoria Schwab

Hi!

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.

The Archived (The Archived #1)
by Victoria Schwab

Release date: January 22nd 2013
by Hyperion

Format: Hardcover, 336 pages

Goodreads:

Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books.

Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Da first brought Mackenzie Bishop here four years ago, when she was twelve years old, frightened but determined to prove herself. Now Da is dead, and Mac has grown into what he once was, a ruthless Keeper, tasked with stopping often-violent Histories from waking up and getting out. Because of her job, she lies to the people she loves, and she knows fear for what it is: a useful tool for staying alive.

Being a Keeper isn't just dangerous-it's a constant reminder of those Mac has lost. Da's death was hard enough, but now her little brother is gone too. Mac starts to wonder about the boundary between living and dying, sleeping and waking. In the Archive, the dead must never be disturbed. And yet, someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself might crumble and fall.

In this haunting, richly imagined novel, Victoria Schwab reveals the thin lines between past and present, love and pain, trust and deceit, unbearable loss and hard-won redemption.

I've been waiting for this book for what feels like forever! When I read Victoria's previous novel, The Near Witch, I fell in love with her poetic, stunning writing style and I couldn't wait to read something written by her again! So I've been stalking her and patiently (or not) waiting for this new release. The premise of the Archived sounds haunting, unique and so fascinating! Doesn't it grip you from the first line of the blurb?

I can't wait for January! (though it's a late Jan. release, so I'll probably get it for my birthday at the beginning of February. Anyway, I can't wait!! Look at that gorgeous cover!)

Waiting on Wednesday #37: Ever After (The Hollows #11) by Kim Harrison

Hi!

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.

My pick today...

Ever After (The Hollows #11)
by Kim Harrison

Release date: January 22nd 2013
by Harper Voyager
Format: Hardcover, 512 pages

Goodreads:

*Synopsis contains spoilers for the previous books!

The ever after, the demonic realm that parallels the human world, is shrinking. If it disappears completely, so does all magic. It's up to witch-turned-daywalking-demon Rachel Morgan to avert catastrophe and keep life from changing... for the worse.

While saving the world is important, it isn't Rachel's only motivation. There's also the small fact that she caused the ley line to rip in the first place, setting off a chain reaction of unfortunate events. That little mistake has made her life forfeit unless she can fix it. It's also made her more than a few enemies, including the most powerful demon in the ever after—a terrifying entity who eats souls and now has an insatiable appetite for her. He's already kidnapped her friend and goddaughter to lure her out, and if Rachel doesn't give herself up soon, they'll die.

But Rachel has more than a few impressive and frighening skillls of her own, and she isn't going to hand over her soul and her life without one hell of a fight. She's also got a surprise: elven tycoon Trent Kalamack. With this unlikely ally beside her—a prospect both thrilling and unnerving—she's going to return to the ever after, kick some demon butt, rescue her loved ones... and prevent an apocalypse before it's too late. Or, at least that's the plan...

The Hollows is one of my all time favorite series, so of course I'm dying to read the next installment! Especially after I read the bonus chapters in the previous book and the short novella leading to this one. Things are getting seriously badass and... steamy!:D Can't wait to read it! (I don't know why I didn't spotlight it before. *face palm* Maybe because this is such a guaranteed auto-buy and auto-love series for me, that it doesn't even register on my wishlist anymore).

Waiting on Wednesday #36 - Vengeance Bound by Justina Ireland

Hi!

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.

My pick today...

Vengeance Bound
by Justina Ireland

Release date: April 2nd 2013
by Simon & Schuster Books For Young Readers
Format: Hardcover, 320 pages

Goodreads:

The Goddess Test meets Dexter in an edgy, compelling debut about one teen’s quest for revenge… no matter how far it takes her.

Cory Graff is not alone in her head. Bound to a deal of desperation made when she was a child, Cory’s mind houses the Furies—the hawk and the serpent—lingering always, waiting for her to satisfy their bloodlust. After escaping the asylum where she was trapped for years, Cory knows how to keep the Furies quiet. By day, she lives a normal life, but by night, she tracks down targets the Furies send her way. And she brings down Justice upon them.

Cory’s perfected her system of survival, but when she meets a mysterious boy named Niko at her new school, she can’t figure out how she feels about him. For the first time, the Furies are quiet in her head around a guy. But does this mean that Cory’s finally found someone who she can trust, or are there greater factors at work? As Cory’s mind becomes a battlefield, with the Furies fighting for control, Cory will have to put everything on the line to hold on to what she’s worked so hard to build.

This one pretty much had me at the The Goddess Test meets Dexter tag line. I love mythology books and the Furies always seem to be scary, yet fascinating. Having them in your mind constantly can't be fun. I can't wait to find out how Cory deals with them and what's up with this mysterious boy!

So... What are you waiting on this week?:)
