The Paris Secret Blog Tour: The Paris Secret Playlist + Giveaway!

Hello everyone!

I had the pleasure of reading The Paris Secret by Angela Henry during my short vacation and I LOVED it! Paris, hot Frenchmen, sizzling romance, history, mystery, conspiracies... Sounds like a perfect summer read to me!♥ And I'm so excited to be a part of The Paris Secret Blog Tour! Also, I always listen to music when I read, so I'm very happy to have Angela on the blog today, talking about music and the perfect playlist for her amazing book!

The Paris Secret Playlist
- Angela Henry -

I’m often asked whether scenes play out in my head like a movie when I write. The answer is yes. But there’s another element of writing scenes that helps bring them to life in my head and that’s music.  More and more authors are creating music soundtracks for their books and I think that’s wonderful. I can’t actually listen to music when I write because I find it too distracting. But music does inspire many scenes in my books and I hear it in my head as I write, kind of like theme music. Below are passages from the Paris Secret along with the songs that inspired them. Enjoy!

Somebody Already Broke My Heart by Sade
“What kind of an idiot goes to the most romantic city on earth all by herself to get over a broken heart?”

Red Red Wine by UB40
Drinking so much wine hadn’t been in the plan but seeing so many people in love, and being constantly reminded that I was alone, gave me an excuse to keep my glass filled.

I Put a Spell on You By Nina Simone
Our eyes met and I could see his were a vivid, startling shade of green. I couldn’t tear my gaze from his and continued to gawk at him until he finally walked away.

Princesse Nubienne By Les Nubians
“…She was born Louise-Marie Therese, the illegitimate daughter of Queen Maria- Theresa of Spain, wife of King Louis XIV of France, and her African lover, a servant named Nabo,” she said matter-of-factly.

Chocolate By Kylie Minogue
He tasted like chocolate, smelled like soap.

Poison By Bell Biv Devoe
“Never trust a big butt and a smile, huh? Unbelievable. Men!” I shook my head in disgust. Simon had me so pissed off I was quoting song lyrics.

Femme de Couleur By Shy’m
“Well, because she was a woman of color like yourself, my dear….”

Last Tango in Paris By Gotan Project
I was flying home—today—and still he’d said nothing about ever wanting to see me again.

Thank you Angela! I really enjoyed re-reading the passages from the book and I think they go perfectly with the songs! ♥ (LOL at Poison)

Intrigued already? Here is the Goodreads blurb

Less than twenty-four hours after fleeing to Paris, Maya Sinclair is the prime suspect in a brutal murder—and targeted by the real killer. When she's viciously attacked in the gardens of Versailles, Maya barely escapes with her life thanks to sexy French journalist Simon Girard.

Simon has been investigating the mysterious death of his brother, an art forger with ties to the woman Maya is suspected of killing. Still healing from heartbreak of his own, Simon reluctantly joins forces with Maya, who has awakened feelings within him he thought long dead.

Their search for answers uncovers the existence of a secret society, and puts them on a quest to find a missing crucifix rumored to hold the key to everlasting life. Together, Maya and Simon race through Paris one step ahead of a killer who will do anything to ensure some secrets remain buried forever...

About the author

Angela Henry was once told that her past life careers included spy, researcher and investigator. She stuck with what she knew because today she's a mystery-writing, library reference specialist, who loves to people-watch and eavesdrop on conversations. She's the author of four mysteries featuring equally nosy amateur sleuth Kendra Clayton, and is also the founder of the award-winning MystNoir website, which promotes African-American mystery writers, and was named a “Hot Site" by USATODAY.com. When she's not working, writing or practicing her stealth, she loves to travel, is a connoisseur of B horror movies and an admitted anime addict. She lives in Ohio and is currently hard at work trying to meet her next deadline.
